Manga Library

The Sakura-Con Manga Library is available 24/7 throughout the con. There are library staffers on duty to check your bags, help you find great manga, and answer questions.

Local Events for Otakus – a list of fun activities or events of interest for anime fans.

During Sakura-Con, manga are shelved alphabetically by series.

  • Materials rated A/E (for all ages) is shelved separately to help younger library users more easily find appropriate works. The manga volumes have yellow dots on the lower spine of the book. There are non-manga children’s books in the collection as well. These are located in the same shelving area. Parents and guardians should be mindful that series shelved elsewhere may contain themes or content not suitable for younger children. If this is a concern for your family, please supervise the books your young ones select.
  • Materials rated “Mature” and “18+” are shelved in the “No Minors” area of the library. Individual volumes rated “18+” in a series generally rated T/OT are also shelved in the No Minors area. (The T/OT volumes are generally shelved in open shelving. However, manga rated “OT” that staff feels contains mature content will be shelved in the non-minors area.) Only non-minors are permitted in this section.

Donations

Our collection exists thanks to the generous donations of members, staffers, and local booksellers, including Half Price Books (HPB) Capitol Hill, HPB-James Village (Lynnwood), HPB Warehouse, Comic Stop, and Magus Books in the University District. Thanks to the Half Price Books folks, we now have lots of Japanese language manga! Thanks to Magus, we have some great cosplay reference resources. If you would like to donate books or magazines to help us develop our collection, please email us. We’d also appreciate hearing your recommendations for creators and titles (manga and otherwise). Thank you!

Loaned materials

Some volumes in the collection are loaned by staff members to the Manga Library. We appreciate their generosity in sharing these works and ask you to treat them with special care.

The Manga Library needs minions around the clock! Minions help set-up and break-down the Library before and after the event. Throughout the event, minions take care of the collection, help users, and even have time to catch up on manga they may not have read themselves. Email the Manga Library for more information.

The Manga Library strives to create a calm atmosphere that’s comfortable, welcoming and accessible. If you need assistance, we minions are happy to help.

Our collection contains manga, anime/manga-oriented magazines, and materials about anime, manga, and other cultural and reference topics of interest to our members. The manga are listed first. Other materials are listed at the end of the manga titles. In this short version of our collection, only titles, volumes and ratings are listed for manga. Non-manga materials are not rated, so only the title and author is listed. We’re working on an expanded version which will also contain synopses. Our collection development plan is to acquire materials in both English and Japanese, and to provide materials for education and entertainment.
