Come and enjoy Sakura-con’s yearly Black Tie ball! Put on your fanciest finery, don your most ornate mask, and waltz the night away in the most blissfully antiquated way. To keep the mood, we will enforce formal garb and a facial covering.

Sakura-Con Black Tie Ball Rules

  1. The Black Tie Ball is a family-friendly event and all Sakura-Con policies and guidelines are still in effect.
  2.  The ball is a social dance where close interaction is routine, but any disruptive or inappropriate behavior will result in expulsion from the ball for the rest of the evening.
  3. If you have a problem while at the ball, please locate a staff member and inform them as soon as possible.
  4. As a formal event, adherence to the dress code for Sakura-Con’s Black Tie Ball is mandatory.

  5. Please be sure to have your Sakura-Con badge visible at all times.
  6. Black Tie Event Staff reserves the right to remove attendees from the ball at any time.

Remember, the Black Tie Ball is Sakura-Con’s formal event. Be sure to dress to impress! Adherence to the following dress code is mandatory for entrance to the ball.

Black Tie Ball Cosplay Dress Attire Visual Guide

Please note that the minimum attire requirement is semi-formal.

Masculine Attire:

  • Suit
    • Suit jacket (optional)
    • Vest (optional)
    • Dress shirt
    • Slacks
  • Leather-based dress shoes
  • Loafers, oxfords, wingtips, boots
  •  

Feminine Attire:

  • Dress
    • Cocktail-style dress no shorter than “finger-tip” length
    • A little black dress
    • Long dress skirt & top
  • Suit
  • Dress shoes
    • Flats, heels, boots

Cultural Attire:

  • Kimono
  • Hanbok
  • Cheongsam/qipao or Cheongshan
  • Kilts

Shoes:

  • Formal shoes are required.
    • NOTE: If your character canonically wears non-formal shoes with a formal outfit and you can provide official visual evidence at point of entry, you are allowed in.
  • NOTE: If you have a clinically significant medical condition (i.e. Diabetes Mellitus, Peripheral Neuropathy, Osteo/Rheumatoid Arthritis, etc.) that impedes you from wearing certain footwear, a Black Tie Event staff member will assess and make exceptions on a case-by-case basis.
  • It is recommended to wear shoes that are comfortable for long periods.

Cosplay:

Cosplay is accepted, but the dress code will still apply to all cosplay for entry. Some examples below:

  • Dress Military Uniform
  • Ball gowns
  • Cultural attire (kimono, hanbok, etc)
    • NOTE: School Uniforms are not acceptable for entrance into the ball

***ABSOLUTELY NO: JEANS, T-SHIRTS, INTENTIONALLY RIPPED CLOTHING, OBSCENE MARKINGS OR IMAGES***

Remember that Black Tie Events Staff can make any final determination on attire at any time during the ball, no exceptions.
