Makoto “Max” Watanabe established Max Factory with the launch of the Model Kit Maker in 1987, spear-heading a company now known world-wide for the highly articulated figma series. Watanabe is the first and foremost sculptor and modeler, constantly focused on the fun of creation. Through passion and experience, he invented the “Max Painting” or “Copic Painting” style.
Watanabe dedicates his spare time to coaching modeling beginners and publishing modeling textbooks. His most recent work includes, “Max Watanabe and Oogoshi Tomoe’s, We Love Gunpla!” Watanabe is also one of the founding members of the Gundam “Master Grade” series, currently released through Bandai.
