Membership Department

Registration Line Control Staff

Registration Line Control staff are our feet on the ground to help keep our Registration lines running smoothly. From load-balancing lines to answering questions, if you enjoy a quick-paced and adaptive environment, this position is for you. The majority of this position will require you to be on your feet for extended periods of time, however, we can accommodate special needs as necessary, with advance notice. Applicants must be friendly but loud when required. Be ready to adjust to a dynamic environment and be ready to think on your feet. Registration Staff

Registration is always looking for more general staff. As the first contact with most attendees, customer service is paramount to being a successful Reg staffer. Previous computer skills, cash handling skills, and extensive customer service skills are a must. However, we do have a few positions available for clerical work as well. Please contact registration@sakuracon.org if you are interested in this position. This position requires you to be 18 years old or older.

Artist Alley Staff:

  • Must be available for their designated shifts for a minimum of 16 hours, times ranging from Thursday to Sunday on the week of the convention.
  • Be able to be on your feet for your whole shift if needed. Most tasks involve walking throughout the hall to help artists.
  • Ability to work well with others and possess enough communication skills to help artists and attendees.
  • Be respectful and supportive.
  • Report to your assigned Artist Alley Coordinator.
  • 21 years of age or older is preferred, but must be at least 18 years of age.

Exhibit Hall Staff:

As a Sakura-Con exhibit hall volunteer, you help ensuring the smooth operation of the exhibit hall area. Responsibilities include assisting exhibitors, providing information and assistance, monitoring traffic flow, and maintaining cleanliness and organization within the exhibit hall. Excellent communication skills, and a friendly demeanor is a must. Come help our Exhibit Hall be the best yet! Contact exhibitors@sakuracon.org if interested!

Merch Staff: 

Sakura Con’s Merch team is looking for staff. Merch staff provide customer service, organize inventory, and process customer transactions. This is an excellent position for folks who are new to staffing and want to get exposed to volunteering. The Merch Booth is moving locations this year and will be located in the Exhibits Hall. Merch shifts run from Thursday (setup) through Sunday. Volunteers must be 16 or older. Please contact merchandise@sakuracon.org with questions.

 

Programming Department

Room Moderator

Want to start working for the convention but don’t know where to start? Do you love fan panels? This position is right for you! Room Moderators are entry level staff that help provide support to our panelists and content rooms, help ensure that panel guidelines are followed, track data for content engagement, and work with other internal departments if tech needs troubleshooting. We have this role for both daytime and late night to accommodate early risers and night owls! Training will be provided on site. Publicity Department

Print Shop Staff

Print Shop is looking for staff interested in running deliveries to other departments, processing print orders (collating, stapling, ect), and setting up  the office on Thursday. Experience with info/document security is a plus. Please email print.shop@sakuracon.org if you are interested!

Board of Directors

Assistant Secretary (Open until filled)

Primary Duties:

  • The creation and timely distribution of agenda for Board and General meetings.
  • Ensure the board is following the Bylaws, policies and Robert’s Rules.
  • The accurate recording and distribution of the minutes of Board of Directors meetings and general meetings.
    • The minutes should reflect that the format and level of detail that the Board has determined.
  • In the event that the Secretary is unable to attend a meeting where minutes or notes are to be taken, it is the secretary’s responsibility to finds an alternate.

Secondary Duties

  • The updating, maintaining and safe storage of all board level documentation and provide needed items upon request.
  • The maintaining and safe storage of all board level equipment needed to conduct hybrid meetings.
  • Oversight of the Association’s incorporation and charitable registration status and the facilitation of all annual filings of required reports and information.
  • The maintenance of a file or manual of governance policies and a systematic schedule for their review as determined by the board.
  • The maintenance of an up-to-date list of members.
  • The management of internal correspondence and ensuring that requests made of the Board of Directors, is reported and responded to in a timely manner
  • Support the board during the annual convention.

Requirements

  • Minimum two years experience with MS 360 or Google Suite
  • Minimum 6 months experience with taking professional meeting notes
  • Strong communication skills
  • An adequate level of writing proficiency
  • Access to a computer for word processing purposes
  • Able to commute to the Seattle Convention Center for hybrid meetings
  • Experience with Robert’s Rules (not required)
  • Experience working on a Board of Director (not required)
