Sakura-Con 2015
Skit Contest Rules

  1. All entries will register under ONE of the following categories:

    • Novice: A group may compete in the Novice category as long as:
      • No member of the group has won any award.

    • Intermediate: A group may compete in the Intermediate category if:
      • Members of the group have not won more than three (3) total major awards in a cosplay/skit competition.
      • No member of the group has won any award above Intermediate level.

    • Masters: A group will be required to compete in Masters category if:
      • Members of the group have won more than three (3) total major awards in a cosplay/skit competition.
      • Any member of the group has won any award above Intermediate level.

  2. Skits are limited to 3 minute and 30 seconds; skits should be planned with this limit in mind. Anything over that will NOT be accepted. You are allowed up to 30 seconds of setup time, but that time is included in your allotted time.

  3. There will be a maximum of 20 groups allowed for the Cosplay Skit Contest.

  4. All audio for your skit must be pre-recorded; there will be no microphones on stage for skit use. Pre-recorded audio is limited to 3 minutes and 30 seconds, and must be submitted with your entry in MP3 format only. If you have any questions, please email cosplay@sakuracon.org.

  5. Groups are limited to 10 persons, including stage ninjas. (No stage ninjas will be provided, so if you need assistance with your skit you will need to provide it.)

  6. There will be a REQUIRED pre-meeting for the Cosplay Skit Contest and Cosplay Judging at the convention. Day and times will be posted in the Sakuracon schedule guide. Failure to attend this required meeting will result in a disqualification.

  7. If your skit requires lighting affects (i.e., lights up or lights down), they must be noted on the Cosplay Skit Entry Form, as well as the timeline. For example:

    0:00 Skit starts, audio starts
    0:30 Lights up on stage
    3:00 Lights dim on stage
    3:15 Skit ends

If nothing is noted on your form, your audio will start when your skit starts and lights will be on.

  8. This is a PG event - please keep this in mind when planning your skit/or performing on stage. If you are unsure whether something is allowed or not, please email cosplay@sakuracon.org.

  9. No substances such as liquid or confetti are allowed on stage. No props or items may be thrown on stage unless cleared by the Cosplay Coordinator. Violation of this rule will result in disqualification. If you are unsure whether something is allowed or not, please email cosplay@sakuracon.org and we will evaluate it.

  10. There will be no signups for the Skit Contest at the time of the convention. All submissions must be turned in prior to the deadline. Entrants will receive an email confirming their slot in the contest. Once all the slots have been filled, we will keep a waiting list. Groups on the waiting list are encouraged to come to the Pre-Meeting - if a confirmed entrant drops out or is disqualified, the first group on the waiting list will take their place.

  11. Participants may enter both the Costume Contest and Skit Contest, but must enter each contest separately.

  12. All submission are due by March 25, 2015, or until all spots have been filled
